Armageddon
This is the story of your brief existence in the harsh world of Zalanthas. Few denizens of this place see the endless deserts as a place of beauty, for theirs is a life of strife and hardship. While many tribes and wanderers struggle for survival, the only homes of true civilization are the warring city-states of Allanak and Tuluk, ruled by the oppressive god-kings and templars.
Armageddon, over fifteen years old, is among the oldest role-playing games online. Role-play is always required when you are in Armageddon: you are your character. A powerful code base gives you the tools you need to truly express yourself and become one with the role. Rare race and guild options such as defilers and half-giants are played by players who have proved themselves talented and responsible enough to do them justice. There are no out-of-character notions with regards to player-killing: if you do not watch your back, your death will be quick and final. |

Shadows of Isildur
Taking place in J.R.R Tolkien's Middle-earth in the year 2460 of the Third Age, Shadows of Isildur is a role-play intensive MUD that focuses on the conflict between the mighty citadels of Minas Tirith - the bastion of power of the exalted descendents of the fabled Numenorean empire - and Minas Morgul, the once-shining spire conquered and subverted by the Witchking of Angmar to serve his own sinister, and as of yet unknown, purposes.
New players can choose to take the role of either a human in the grand kingdom of Gondor, or a goblin under the Witchking's malefic reign; as the player accumulates roleplay points to their account, more races and roles will open up to them during the creation of their next character. We are roleplay enforced; in-character behavior is mandatory at all times, and characters here are by application only.
Our building is absolutely top-notch, as is our coding, our playerbase, and our staff. If you are a fan of Tolkien, an avid roleplayer, or both, I encourage you to check us out! All are welcome, from the most die-hard Middle-earth afficionados to those who weren't even aware of its existence until now. |

Your character has a choice of hometowns available to him/her, from Waterdeep, to Zhentil Keep, to Menzobarrenzan to Mithril Hall. Options are determined by race, class and alignment. Your character does not have to kill to level, but they can also learn a trade, from mining and creating armour and weapons, to lapidary and fletching.

Harshlands
Harshlands is a free, roleplay intensive, skills-based MUD set on the island of Harn (Columbia Games). Standard 'hack and slash' play is seriously dissuaded, with levels, classes and experience points non-existent. Players can choose to pursue careers, including herbalist, journeyman craftsmen, soldier, guide, criminal, clery, law enforcer and many more. Players proving to be skilled and dedicated are offered choices that include shop ownership, master level craftsmanship, nobility and many advanced professions.
For those unfamiliar with Harn, it is a low-magic world based loosely on a composite of 9th-14th century Britain. The game world includes over 16,000 original rooms in smoothly integrated and universally consistant zones, ten deities, five human ethnic and cultural groups, and three non-human races selectable by players of proven ability. While the thrust and focus of the game is serious roleplay, the world remains a deadly and harsh environment, where life is risky and death is permanent. |

The Inquisition II
"Nothing good can ever come from a witch."
--Inquisitor Colwynn, as he threw himself on the pyre of his mother, a mage
One of the oldest RPI Muds around, The Inquisition began in 1999 with an original theme and has been programmed and designed for immersive role play ever since. Our world embraces the culture of oppression in its desparate goal to destroy all those who use magic. Inquisitors terrorize the populace, and mages hide as best they can until their moment arrives to strike back.
Our setting is rich, our story detailed (in a manner only a game open for almost seven years can be), and an excellent base of creative, intense, and devoted players drives our Machiavellian-style RP. In turn, our players are supported by intuitive system tools that help them realize the extent of their storytelling capacity: They can modify room descriptions during RP, masquerade under aliases, spread rumors, keep track of IC events, make and sell objects, and much more. Experience gained through RP can be used in an account to improve your other characters, and finding RP is as easy as typing 'where'.
Please consider this an open invitation to play or just stop by and see what we're about. |

Accursed Lands (2006 Role-Play MUD of the Year)
Accursed Lands is a roleplay enforced virtual world in development for 10 years and nearing completion of beta development, the main goals being an immersive roleplay experience, uniquely detailed evocative descriptions, and intuitive commands that let you describe what you want to do in plain english. Attention is given to making the in character environment support as much "suspension of disbelief" as possible.
The surface teems with bustling settlements, the skies are as vast as the oceans deep, and the immense underworld holds many mysteries. Whether you shall live for thrills, fortune and power, or the satisfaction of a finely honed craft, the rich textual environment detailed here allows you to shape the world to your will. You can found a homestead, an empire, or perhaps a personality only spoken of in whispers. |

Mythic Shores
Experience the beauty and wonder of the Mediterranean Sea during the peak of the three greatest civilizations of all time as they struggle to make a place in history. Battle with the finest animals and gladiators the Roman Empire has to offer in the colosseum, explore the canals and industrialism of the Atlantean Island, or read the works of your favorite author in Egypt's Great Library. In an era when nations are ruled by religious figures, monstorous beings freely roam the lands, and prophecy and superstition fill the hearts of mortals, everyday is an adventure. |

Towers Of Jadri
The Towers of Jadri is a completely original roleplaying oriented MUD without the restraints of classes and levels. A unique system of magic and magic-like talents provide large possibilities for characters while even those without magical abilities may rise to fame and glory. With thirteen guilds, the possibility of joining or creating a noble house, and bonds of friendship, it is easy to find a group to play with.
The world is full of history and places to visit, with fifteen current cities and 11 nationalities to choose from. Character creation is simple, and we are newbie accessible with a channel that can be used for help even in creation. Both players and staff are knowledgeable and willing to help new players settle into the world.
The world is easily huge by just counting confines of city limits, but a giant world map complete with more than five types of effective terrains and intercity carriages between some cities make the world simply staggering in size. |

The Streets of Yesterday
"The Sun will never set on Her Majesty's Empire, for all the streets of yesterday lead to that undeniable conclusion."--Sir Ian Camberwell, Prime Minister (1792-1802)
The Streets of Yesterday is the first true Victorian-setting Role-Playing Intensive MUD on the web. Although set in an original world, TSOY has been deliberately and closely patterned after Victorian Britain, with unsurpassed attention to detail and quality, in order to give you the player the most realistic and enjoyable experience of a Victorian world while combining creativity and original storylines that will always entertain. Our intent is to provide you with the highest quality role-playing on the web, ironically using the technology of the present to bring you a world of the past, the era of history which introduced many of the concepts which comprise modern society. On TSOY, you'll find a world exactly like it was a century and a half ago, from dress to technology, all in a distinctly unique yet familiar setting designed with playability in mind. So grab your hat or parasol, hail yourself a horse-drawn cab, and come join us on The Streets of Yesterday.

Subterranea
In a world where a single year spans a lifetime, few men have lived to see the same season twice. Twenty-five cycles of winter have covered the Brylands in ice and snow, and for this time the Brysh people have found refuge in the Undercity of Subterranea. But at last, winter has ended, spring has come, and the people have returned to the World Above to start over again.
It is the twelfth cycle of spring. Peace has prevailed throughout the Brylands, but all is not well. The dreamers of Seahaven claim to have foreseen the future, and the astromancers of Ambermane have confirmed the signs. Dark times lay ahead, and many fear that it is not the dangers of the coming seasons, but the doing of man's own hand.
Welcome to Subterranea, a free-play RPIMUD of epic adventure. We are currently under construction and not slated to open anytime soon, however you are welcome to connect to the game and drop by our guest lounge while you sit and read our original full-length novel "In Shadow They Slumber", which can be found on our website and will introduce you to the world and history of Subterranea. |

Shadow Siege
Shadow Siege is an originally themed fantasy role-playing game set in the world of Aagos after a cataclysmic event which has rendered much of the planet uninhabitable. We are a strictly role-play enforced MUD, and thus the focus of the game is to develop your character over time through role-play and interactions with other characters.
We encourage the development of our community both IC and OOC in a number of ways, including through the stories, logs and role-play blogs many of our players have set up. With four unique races (well, unique save for Humans, but we all need some familiar territory) and a classless and leveless gaming system, there are no limits to the roles and stories you can create for your characters.
Would you be a conservative Telanthan shocked and dismayed at the sudden changes to their once proud and upright city? A refugee from Yarsin forced to flee the great metropolitan city, to live like rats, trying to scrape a living amongst the dark and overpopulated streets and alleys of Telantha's refugee district? Or a Virothian noble; still trying to cling onto the rights and privileges of their rank and title and maintain a standard of living simply unsustainable in the ruined economy of the rapidly changing world?
Whatever you decide, Shadow Siege will be a home to your character, and will help to bring their story to life.

Dark Horizon
The Aiian people have lived upon the island, Sural, for hundreds of years, content with the knowledge that their goddess-given home was the only dry earth on the great blue sea. Matters have changed. A new island has been discovered, its size undetermined, its land thick with dark, unexplored forest. Crowded conditions in Sural make this new land seem like a godsend, but is it?
Now, one hundred years after the colony's inception, residents turn a wary eye to the uncleared forest about their tiny town-on-a-hill. "Exactly what is out there?" They ask themselves. But do they really wish to know?
Dark Horizon is a role-play intensive MUD with a colonial/nautical theme. Players initially embody new colonists, freshly come to the island colony, grasping a deed. Role-play is key in Dark Horizon, and players who perform their parts will find new and exciting roles opening up to them, both with their initial character, and suceeding ones. Our codebase offers a variety of new options including an all-new wound system, a coordinate grid, far seeing, sense specific echoes and advanced ship and sea code. |

Dark Sun
The endless wastes... The burning sand... The crimson sun...
This is the world of Athas, the world of the Dark Sun campaign setting. Athas' savage, primal landscape is the result of long centuries of ecological and magical abuse. The world is dying. It breathes its last gasps as water turns to silt, grasslands become sandy wastes, and jungles decay into stony barrens. Till, life finds a way to endure even in these hellish conditions. In fact, it thrives.
Athas is a place of contrasts. Bleak deserts exist beside verdant belts, rocky badlands give way to thick forests, and scrub plains surroud opulent oases. These contrasts go beyond envrionmental conditions. Magic, for example, is relativly scarce and universally feared, while psionic powers are a common and accepted part of life.
Water is more precious than gold in this resource-depleted world, and metals of all sorts are likewise in short supply. Except for heat and sun, blood and dust, few things can be found in abundance. Children growing up beneath the crimson sun don't aspire to become heroes. True heroes who champion causes or seek to make the world a better place are as rare as steel on Athas. Living to see the next dawn is more important than defending a set of beliefs, so survival ultimately motivates all living creatures - not virtue or righteousness.
Today, Athas rushes toward its future. If the course of destruction is to be diverted, if Athas is to be restored, then more heroes must grab the reins of destiny and give Athas a new hope. |

DEAD6
"By 2200 we had polluted our air, poisoned our oceans, and fallen victim to diseases for which we had no cure. Our way of life, our world, was dying. In 2236 we embarked on what was supposed to be a twenty-seven year journey to a new homeworld for the people of Earth. Nearly four hundred years later, we awoke to a nightmare..."
Currently under construction and slated to open to players in the summer of 2007, DEAD6 is the RPIMUD Network's first in-house project, and is being developed from the ground up based upon the Rapture™ MUD Engine. DEAD6 features a coordinate and landmark based navigation system allowing for a vast game world without over-seperation of the playerbase. In addition, players are able to create any object in the game, including weapons, vehicles and buildings. This means that creative players can advance the technological levels of their cultures by discovering or inventing previously unknown technologies. Players are also able to establish their own communities, and a unique hireling system allows you to hire non-player characters to run patrols, report their activities, gather natural resources and defend what's yours while you are offline. |

Deep Below
Far from the eyes of the modern world, there exists a realm that has only been hinted at in our myths and legends. The world beneath the streets is full of life and magic, unseen by the world above. The UnderWorld is divided into various Demesnes, Baronies and Fiefdoms. Like the kingdoms of old, the Domains of the UnderWorld forge alliances, trade in goods and services…and, at times, make war upon each other.
Outside of the Domains, the UnderWorld is wild. Great beasts lurk through dark tunnels, ready to devour the unwary. In caverns deeper than any UpWorlder has ever traveled; there are lost cities, built by inhuman hands. The Radiance manifests itself in wondrous and unexpected ways. There are villains, and there are heroes. This is the World Below. |
